Wedge lock washers are a two-part locking system that uses a wedge effect based on a cam-and-toothed geometry to prevent loosening from vibration and dynamic loads. One washer has cam-like surfaces, and the other has radial teeth; when tightened, the teeth bite into the mating surfaces while the cam angle, which is greater than the bolt’s thread pitch, creates tension to maintain preload and secure the joint.
